On August 1, 2008, at 11:10 UT (4:10am PDT), a total solar eclipse will occur as the moon moves directly between the sun and the earth. Since the eclipse is not visible at all in the United States, San Francisco's Exploratorium brings its fifth eclipse expedition team to remote Xinjiang Province in Northwestern China, close to the Mongolian border, where the Exploratorium will webcast the eclipse live to the world. See it in person live at the Exploratorium, or on the Internet. This event is both a celebration and party, a look at Chinese culture, and pure Sun-Earth Connection science. Time: Thursday 9:00pm-Friday 4:10am. Exploratorium. 3601 Lyon Street. San Francisco. Marina. Ticket Info. $14/Adults, $11/Seniors (65+) and Students (with ID) and Youth (13-17), $9/Children (4-12), Free/Children 3 and Under.
