This year, over 50,000 participants gathered in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.
Burning Man isn't your usual festival, with big acts booked to play on massive stages. In fact, it's more of a city than a festival, wherein almost everything that happens is created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the event.
At least that is what the burning man website says.
You quickly realize when you get to Burning man is that this is a VERY LARGE section of desert and is going to be a crazy event with 50,000 people.
Your first experience is a dust-filled campout like something straight out of a Mad-Max movie. Everyone is dressed in their own special costume that means something to them but maybe not to anyone esle.

We love new events and we were exctied to be involved in the first cask opening at the Freakin Frog earlier this year. We had so much fun that we came back to join Adam and the gang on Cask#5.
Here is the information about the Cask that night:
"The greatest beer drinking friends and regulars of the Freakin Frog have done it again. The latest edition of our Cask Tasting Series is sold out. The true Oktoberfest Wooden Cask of Hofstetner is an ode to the original recipe of over two hunderd years ago dating back to1810. Home style beer brats will be soaking and steaming all day as the official food of this tasting. If you would like to make the next cask beer tasting make sure to get on the email list. These are always sold out, always fun and a great place to make new friends."
This is a great and growing event that is accelerating as we speak. They have been doing a cask per month and looking to expand to 2 per month or more.

A huge crowd of people showed up tonight to countdown the coming of the New Year. We got there about 8 o’clock because we wanted to make sure we had good parking and get dinner. We ate dinner at Cal Neva since that is where we were meeting friends. It was a great time for a beer and friends.

We got invited to experience Reno's first CANFEST event on October 23rd, 2009. It is known as the Reno International Canned Beer Festival. I love that Reno is known for all the new and exciting events that start here. CANFEST in my opinion will grow to eventually rival the famous Rib Cookoff or the Italian Festival. This event has all the makings of a great international event.

The event was sponsored by Buckbean Brewing Company along with The Nature Conservancy and Great Basin Bird Observatory. There was a lot of emphasis on the Green properties of canned beer as opposed to other methods of distribution. ECORENO was there with a booth as well.
There was a total of 22 diffrent brewers represented at the event and each participant was given a 4 ounce tasting glass to walk the event with. You got to basically taste, try and drink as much...

We visited the Great Italian Festival on Sunday October 10th. We met friends downtown for lunch ans to checkout the activites. If you like Italian food as much as we do you have to make it to the Great Italian Festival in Downtown Reno.
The event was broke out into a couple sections. You could find the farmers market in the south section of town by the music, and the food and drink was in another section. We grabbed ourselves a beer and walked the event. We were hungry for lunch but not ready to get into any lines so we started with some fried calamari from one of the vendors. We also bought some cheesy french toast from another. Both were reasonably priced.
People were playing bocce ball near the farmers market. A giant game deck was built onsite to play on. It was not active,...
